One of Them...

You usually see them in the morning or evenings - walkers.  I never considered being one of them. Yet, on a crisp, fall morning I decided to take Hank and stroll down to the end of the road and back.  I enjoyed it and so the next day I thought I'd do it again.

Fall turned to winter.

Winter turned to spring, spring to summer and suddenly it was fall once more.

Down the drive along the fence line.

Around the corner...

And onto the gravel.

Coming back.

I used to have to catch my breath when I walked back up the hill.  No more.

For almost two years, no matter what weather, Hank and I have started our day with a whim that has become an enjoyable habit.  I've become one of them.

A Walker.

  1. What a wonderful walk to take! It's beautiful. Bill and I have a loop we do often in the off-season - OK, winter - but not every day. We should; we get lazy. But it does make a huge difference in how you feel and actually energizes you. Sometimes I walk one of the horses if Bill isn't available - and always get picked on because I am w a l k i n g. They get a good laugh on my count and I get more fit. Congratulations on a job well done!

    2. Ugh...so much for adding a comment! :)

Have started hand-walking Elvis on my walks so he can get desensitized to the Buffalo in the pasture next to our road. Hope to ride him soon. But will keep walking, it's definately contributed to the loss of 50 lbs since I first started. I feel so much better!
