The End of the Goldens

He is a Golden.

He's still here but will be leaving soon.

He is no longer ours.

Horse life can be so rewarding.  It can also be heart breaking.  And if you've had horses long enough you've had your share of both.  After losing four horses in two years something here has changed regarding our future horses.

We will hope the God's are with us and only have one saddle horse for the time being.  Down the road we will purchase a second saddle horse.  Our future will be two saddle horses.

With the sale of the large horse that grazes in our pasture tonight, it is the end of the Goldens.

But what a great run it was...

  1. At least you have horses ! I miss having horses but it just isnt in the cards for us right now financially ! I was raised on a hobby farm and want my own hobby farm , I miss the animals. I understand what its like , you get attached to them they become part of the family ! Things will work out for all ! Have a good day !

  2. So, Bob the new kid is now Bob the old man.

Anyone who has ever been passionate about something, person place or thing, and circumstances forced them to give it up, will understand your pain.

  3. I know it's been a challenge, but sounds like you've found your way.

I'm with you on this one, it's a joyous and heartbreaking ride, this ride with horses.

Here's to great pastures for your big golden boy.

(btw: you have double word verification on, it tends to be a pain in the neck for commentors and a bunch have turned it off.)

  4. Awww, hugs to you... I know how hard it is to let them go, but I do think it's the right thing. It's still tough.

  5. Thanks Breathe - I (think) I've disabled it...
